When people think of pigs, it’s fair to say that they either picture a little pink piggy oinking around on a farm or, if they’re the kind that looks at things from a different side of the spectrum, they picture bacon.
Pigs come in all shapes, sizes, and breeds.
Unless you’ve been hiding beneath a rock, far away from social media, you’ve heard of Bentley. And you’ve probably seen this heartbreaking yet beautiful video:
Bentley is a 9-month-old pot-bellied pig who is in need of help. Before he got rushed to the veterinary hospital, he lived at the EARTH Animal Sanctuary in Roberts, Illinois.
One morning his adoptive mama, founder of the sanctuary, found him very sick and unresponsive.
On February 23 a seizure left him in a state of shock and the hospital diagnosed him with very rare bacterial meningitis, which can be fatal. He was given a ten percent chance to live. —EarthAnimalSanctuary.org
Despite everything, she refuses to give up on him. Because who would? I would rather go into credit card debt to help my babies than simply give up on them.
So this is where animal lovers hopefully come in. We need to donate to Bentley and help him make a 100% recovery.
The most recent update posted on the youcaring donation page states:
His final surgery that took place two days ago was incredibly successful, and as soon as his large surgical wounds heal he can come home!!! Since Bentley is still in the hospital, he is still incurring daily charges for blood work, tests, wound debridement, medicine, and care. The projected estimate for his bill by the time he leaves is somewhere around $9000. However, going forward, Bentley will need special care as he re-learns all of the day-to-day functions and behaviors that he lost with the brain swelling from the meningitis.
Let’s get Bentley back home where he belongs and continue to donate towards his medical bills.
