Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Month

My 2014 calendar I received in the mail at the end of last year.

April is Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Month.

If you think someone you know is abusing animals, you can help. The best thing you can do is report cruelty.

If you live in New York City and need to report animal cruelty, please contact 311. To report crimes in progress in any borough, please call 911.

If you believe you have witnessed animal cruelty in the state of New Jersey and would like to report it, please call the NJSPCA at (800) 582-5979 or fill out NJSPCA’s online form.

In other news, I am now the newest member of the ASPCA Guardians Monthly Giving Program.

Each month the ASPCA will be taking an amount (that I chose) out of my account and donate it towards the ones who need it most: America’s homeless, abused and neglected pets.

My monthly support will serve as a dependable source of income for the ASPCA, allowing them to continue to fight animal abuse, provide low-cost animal health care, spearhead state and federal legislation against animal cruelty, and better educate the public on responsible pet parenting.

I’ll also receive a newsletter as well as an ASPCA T-shirt. 🙂

This is the type of thing I don’t feel guilty about giving away my money to, because I know it is going to a credible and important cause. To me, animals are the most important things, and we need to take better care of them.

  1. Hopefully one day we won’t need a month and all creatures great and small will be treated with care. Until then, go ASPCA : ) they are a phenomenal organization. Thank you for sharing the awareness

  2. Yea, dedicated a full week on my blog to this. I used poems and dogs that participated in the “going orange campaign” for animal cruelty prevention month. Check it out. 🙂 On a serious note, Rabbits have it hard in April, hence easter. Too many bought and then abandoned or sent to shelters. People need to be aware. good post!

What'd ya think?
